Article summary

Tags are used to help you quickly identify nodes and graphs that belong to groups. They make it easier to find the graph or node by allowing them to be searched by tags instead of the name. Anywhere you see a filter search box searching for the names of items with tags, you can type in the name of an item or the name of a tag to search - both will be searched.

Tags can be different colors as well to help with sorting and visually seeing the nodes and graphs in a group. It is best practice to use color coding when making tags to keep similar kinds of tags the same.

In the pictures below, you can see the tags for the graphs are all blue/green(01-03), with the graphs that are used for monitoring and error handling (90's) in purple/pink.

Note

Tags are not used in the journey mapper, only in graphs and their nodes.

Editing for tags for editor items in the editor can be accessed via edit icon. Open the item in the editor, and with no other selection active, the bottom sidebar panel will display the item's current tags, as well as a button edit (pencil) icon provides access to a menu that allows updating of the tag details.

Tags can also be accessed via the new item page and via the environment editor (for adding tags to environments).

Adding and Removing Tags from Items/Environments

  • When you are editing an item, apply the tag by  clicking on the plus on the far left of the Tag listing - the chain will now change to a checkmark to show it is tagged

  • To break an already connected tag, click on the cross or check mark to remove that tag

Creating New Tags

  • Click on the Create Tag button

  • Name the tag by typing a name into the Tag Name box

  • Choose a color by

    • moving the dropper and slider

    • entering the hex or RGB values directly

  • Click 'Create Tag'

Automated Tagging

The auto-tagging feature analyzes graphs to automatically assign tags based on usage and state. For Adaptors and logic nodes, only unused tags are displayed. The User and AI Gen button allows you to toggle between manual tags, auto-generated tags, or both, enhancing project management efficiency. This feature streamlines navigation in large projects and ensures consistent tagging while still allowing for manual tag creation and management.

Auto tags reflect the version being viewed. Use Refresh AI Tag if the automatic tagging process fails, times out, or if tags are not visible on newly created or updated elements, such as nodes, graphs, adaptors, logic nodes, or learning node especially after version restoration. To enhance project navigation, the Xponent Hub now supports automated tagging of graphs and logic nodes. These tags are assigned based on operation type, state, and usage, allowing for quicker identification and organization of project components.
