Article summary

We have included an interactive training to provide a more engaging and visual learning experience.

The Set Node is used to set (Write) a value in the schema or in a public variable.

The value which is set into the schema location or public variable can come from the schema, a public variable, or a literal value. As an example, shown below, the KWID value (in the Schema Profile section) is set to a literal "firstName".

  • Select the required node to add or replace the destination. Edit Set Node configuration will be displayed.

While adding any of the following profile destinations to the Set node, it gets rejected, and an error notification will pop up:

  • JourneySteps
  • Interactions
  • MetaData values

This data reference must be one of the following: Public Variable, Schema, Profile Identifiers, or Profile Attributes.

The Set Node returns true if it was successful - it does not return the value of the value that was set. The Set Node is a shortcut for copying values between data locations.
