Profile Size Limits

Xponent has implemented certain limits on various components within profiles to maintain optimal system performance. Here are the current limits:

When one of the nodes that are used to create or modify profiles (Update Profile node, Record Journey Step node, Record Interaction node) is executed, we check the count of Journey Steps, Interactions, and Identifiers. If the count on any of those is exceeded, the node goes down an error branch.

This error notifies that a profile has exceeded its pre-defined size limits. By setting these limits, the system aims to prevent performance issues such as application slowdowns or failures due to the burden that processing excessively large profiles puts on the profile store.

This error also provides information on the specific profile that has exceeded its limits and includes details on the profile with the reason. Once you've identified the profiles that have exceeded the size limits. 

It's the users' responsibility to decide the best course of action for their profiles to maintain optimal system performance and stability. This may involve deciding whether to truncate, purge, or leave profiles unchanged. Once a decision is made, Xponent support team is available to assist in carrying out the necessary actions.

For Example: If user decided to truncate a profile, Xponent support team will handle the actual truncation process.

Troubleshooting

• Identify the profiles that have grown too large.
• Analyze the profile activity to determine the reason for the excessive growth.
• Common reasons include the accumulation of data from testing profiles that haven't been regularly cleaned.
• After identifying the reason, decide if it's worth keeping the profile active.
• You can choose for truncation or deletion of the profile. Remember, truncating a profile may have impact on your analytics.
